SONG: Slow and Easy ARTIST: Zapp & Roger CD/ALBUM TITLE: All the Greatest Hits [1993] CD available on Amazon.Com: CD available on iTunes: Zapp [is the band of musicians founded by the four Troutman brothers] and Roger refers to the brother, Roger Troutman, responsible for bringing the band together and setting them on their course. Music critics have written that Zapp is “one of the most underrated funk groups of the 1980s. That they revolutionized the computer pop of electro with their trademark vocoder talk boxes and bumping grooves”. Introducing their funky synth-driven sounds to music listeners, Zapp was initially introduced by P-Funk master, George Clinton of the Parliaments.

They debuted their first album, “More Bounce to the Ounce” in late 1979 and its successful release was the motivation behind Roger Troutman taking on a “lead” role in songwriting and producing for the band. The funky beat single “More Bounce to the Ounce” peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Soul Singles Chart in 1980 and the album reached the top 20 of the Billboard Top 200. From 1980 thru 1985, Zapp & Roger would go on to release several gold albums under the name “ZAPP” and several R&B hit singles.

Eventually Roger Troutman would go on towards a solo career. Despite assuming a solo career, Roger continued to work with Zapp.

In the early 1990s they produced & released some of the Band’s best singles into a “greatest hits” compilation. Breitling serial number. Sadly, brothers Roger and Larry Troutman were called to the heavens in April 1999. Today, the remaining Zapp brothers continue with the tradition of the Zapp band and perform their music at various events.
